Kerala-style houses are famous for their classic architecture and complementing it with European architectural elements brings in great preference and personality to Spaces! That was exactly what team Affix worked on for Client Afsal Usman Java’s residence at Vatakara in Kerala!
The client’s wished to have a modern colonial house that had unique colonial elements to it and providing this was a task the designers at Affix set on and had the project completed in 18 months!
Colonial-style houses are famous for their classic architecture too and here we’ve added the architectural specialty as; the striking cast iron handrail that is robust & durable and also looks cool and beautiful! We can find some common features such as an internal courtyard, double-height skylight, and a dormer roof that adds more floor space and many opportunities for windows!
This Colonial blended house 4.2×4.5m size rooms with separate dressing area and washrooms, 3 bedrooms. It also features various special materials like quality finished and reliable teak wood designs, high-pressure laminate sheets that infuse a decorative and protective overlay, CNC cut multi wood designs, metal frames that add quality, value, and technique to the space designing.
The color theme for the interior chosen was sandstone with off-white since sandstone is the color of unending space and combining it with white adds to a powerful and commanding charisma! The exterior was blended with Beige and subtle warm undertones for a warm and welcoming look!
The elements of the design were planned to keep it minimal yet artistically extravagant and modern colonial with geometric shapes that bring a great composition to space, pergola garden or yard structures that provide seating, shade, and comfort outside the home, the simple and custom ornamental cast iron was used to add the traditional, artistic country touch with floral patterns!
The traditional cool tandoor stone-laid backyard with beautiful flowering plants, decorated with short palm and shrubs and Korean grass lawn gives the space a cool atmospheric finishing where one can either sit in solitude with a cup of tea or have a fun and cool evening chat with guests or family!
