At Affix Architecture, we believe in the power of architecture to shape our lives and our communities. We make sure that each project we undertake is unique, beautiful, and functional.
Our latest project is a resort in Wayanad that brings together nature and modernity. It’s a place where you can stay while you’re enjoying the beauty of the forest—and it’s yours to enjoy with the help of spiral staircase designs and rustic finishes!
The resort was designed by Affix Architecture Team, for client Dr.Ajmal, using elements like Industrial design with colours that blends with nature and truly rustic finish interiors that add a modern comfort for you to feel all relaxed!
When we were tasked with designing a resort in the forest, we knew we wanted to incorporate the natural beauty of the area into everything we did. We decided to build this resort as a triangle shape, which mimicked the shape of the forest and its surroundings. When you’re building a resort in Wayanad, the climate is going to be your biggest challenge! That’s why we designed this resort with triangles in mind. We knew that the climate would be extreme, but we also knew that triangle structures would help us stay cool and comfortable. This gave us the perfect opportunity to add trees, vines, and other flora into our design without over-doing it.
The speciality of this design is the Spiral turn staircase with wooden steps which serve as a stylish addition to modern and minimalist interior. Location speciality being its constructed on high altitude land which again gives an extra gigantic feel with pleasant views from the resort balcony. It also harmoniously blends in with both the resort style and landscape design!
The architectural speciality features an open living area with a double height of 6 meter ceilings and views of the scenery from every angle.
There are 4/10 infinity pools with slope roofs, which are great for sunbathing or relaxing, giving guests an even better view of the surrounding landscape.
At Affix Architecture, we believe that architecture should be about more than mere function. When we agreed to design this resort, we knew the clients wanted a space that was both luxurious and sustainable—a space that would be beautiful and functional, as well as beautiful and sustainable. We wanted to create an architectural experience that was rich with texture and colour, while also being clean and modern—and it had to feel alive! After much consideration, we decided to use Antifungal texture painting on all walls (including ceiling) to ward off any fungi that might be present inside the building. This solution not only protects against insects but also extends beyond just preventing fungi growth into a full environmental protection solution for your entire space!
We used V boards for all areas instead of tile floors to prevent the spread of mould and mildew. We’ve also used 2×2 weightless jerking tiles to prevent the tiles from being damaged.
Wayanad is a lush green landscape that is known for its beauty and seclusion. The idea behind this resort is to create a place where you can unwind, relax and enjoy nature, so for the colour theme we used shades of natural colours and its ecosystem.
We’ve designed every detail with genuine hospitality and modern luxury in mind. The architecture has sofas and hanging lights that were much like works of art which make the resort look finished and truly are a decoration in itself!
The resort has 3.6/4.2m size rooms with separate dressing area and washrooms of 2 bedrooms, and the huge roof is designed to draw in natural light, creating a comfortable space for guests to relax in.
The grandeur of this resort starts from its setting- it is located amidst lush green exquisite view of nature! Its landscaping design is intended to welcome visitors with a refreshing garden with tea plants and Korean grass paved pathways, while the front yard has wider steps leading to the garden which is at a level below. There is also a children’s play area located in the garden area. The design also features Cera boxy cutting stone flooring that adds an extra layer of interest to the landscaped area.
Overall designing for this resort in Wayanad has been a beautiful example of how we can blend nature and modernity!
